Red Carpet Fashion Show sells Southern tourism

The pair hosted a media briefing about the event in Mogoditshane recently where they said they want to see the creative industry taking a turn and bringing change in Botswana.

"The Red carpet fashion show is an event that aims to create a platform for the creative industry to be well celebrated by Batswana and outside the country. We target every designer who says I am ready for Botswana. We want to see the Botswana creative industry be known internationally. We have photography, runway, entertainment and the after party," Tlwaelang said.

For his part, Ranks said they chose Kanye for the venue as the village was close to nearby countries such as South African and Namibia therefore an ideal destination to attract tourism. He added that the southern part of Botswana had been turned a blind eye upon when it came to being used for tourism.

The duo explained that their event would benefit Batswana especially designers and participating creative industry with exposure. They said the event was going to be big. They also added that the event was meant to promote local fashion designers and also bring in international fashion designers to enable local fashion designers level up to the international fashion industry.

"We want the world to know there is talent in Botswana. We have Kapari Designers whom we have seen their good work at Fashion Without Borders and Mascom Derby and we have other fashion designers from Jwaneng, Kanye and Gaborone," they said.

The added that all creative industry people who want to attend red carpet must contact them saying their participation means a lot. Participants would get an opportunity to get photos in the Red Carpet and the best dressed would be given a price.
