Earlier that day, two officials from the club, Motshegetsi Mafa and Sidney Magagane were suspended from the game pending investigations over the registration of full back, Onkarabile Ratanang outside the transfer window. Speaking to Sport Monitor after the game, the French tactician said he is not giving attention to what is happening away from the football pitch.

“My part is the technical one on the field and everything around that. I am not here to comment or make assumptions on that or anything else so ask me anything about the game. I only talk about the field, the rest I do not care,” Folz said. The Blues indeed did their business on the field against Lions in a game played under floodlights at the National Stadium. In the first few minutes, Lions’ goalkeeper, Morake Tauyatsalwa dealt with a near post attempt from Motsholetsi Sikele before denying Segolame Boy from close range. Rollers looked the better of the two teams early minutes of the tie.

Bame Morwalela missed a sitter following a brilliant lay off from Ovella Ochieng. They eventually took the lead four minutes later as Boy met Tlhalefo Molebatsi’s cross to open the scores.

Two minutes to recess, Molebatsi put in another teasing cross but Ochieng shot wide. Popa held a 1-0 lead at the break. Ten minutes into the second half, after a combination of neat passes. Morwalela laid a pass for Sikele who could only shoot over the bar. On the other end, Obakeng Lekoko-Ramotlhwa found himself inside the opposition’s penalty area but his shot went wide off the post.

Lions came close again from a free kick but Julius Likontsane’s attempt flew just over the bar. Lebeau Binemo Madi then went on to hit the bottom upright on the 64th minute. On the 73rd minute, Tauyatsalwa failed to deal with a cross and Lebopo Moremi was there to pick the pieces but his shot went wide. Three minutes later, Mosha Gaolaolwe headed straight in to goalkeeper’s hands from free kick. With just five minutes to time, Nico Babusi headed off the post as Rollers’ defense was caught napping in dealing with a set piece.

“I think we created a lot chances again, with all due respect to the opposition if it ended 5-0 I do no think anyone would debate that. I am happy, we met the task in terms how we played we did not concede, either goals or chances. But I feel we can do better in terms of the finishing,” Folz said.
