Taste of Africa beefs up line-up

Just to spice and shake things up, the organisers say they have planned to have a surprise headliner for the event to be announced in due course. In an interview with the event co-founder, Mercy Ramojela, she said they have a number of both local and international artistes lined up to entertain revellers.

The local acts include Maxy Khoisan, Culture Spears, Dilo Makwati, Motlha, Nono, Ancestral Rituals, DJ Modric, DJ Missy, DJ King and Rangers Marena. On the international acts there will be South African artistes such as Simmy, Sdala and Paige, Mma Ausi and Malome Vector who originates from Lesotho but is based in South Africa. Other international artistes include Sands from Swaziland, R3mnants from Zambia and DJ Otis Fraser from Zimbabwe. “We want to shake things up with a surprise headliner.

Be on the look out for that announcement. The public’s response has been amazing especially from people over 35 years of age. You can tell that they have been yearning for an event such as this one that does not only cater for young people. Tickets are selling fast, with VIP tickets already sold out. There will be Easter Special for our double tickets to give those who have not purchased tickets a chance,” she said.

Ramojela also stated that they will be engaging two security companies to ensure safety in every corner of the stadium. She vowed to give revellers a classy safe event. Furthermore, she said they spoke to local lodges and hotels around and even inside the stadium to give accommodation discounts to those in possession a Taste of Africa ticket. She therefore encouraged guests to take advantage of the offers and not drive back home for their safety. Ramojela also encouraged revellers to dress up in various African traditional attires in celebration of Africa and unity. She explained that cooler boxes will be allowed in for P50 entry fee to allow attendees support those who will be selling drinks at the event.

However, she also explained that bottles will not be allowed entry at the event for safety reasons. The event is a food and music cultural one aimed at bringing Africans together. Ramojela explained that their emphasis was more on food. She said they would like various Africans to share their traditional foods at the event. She added that they were hoping for variety stalls from across African nationals.

Tickets are sold at P200 general tickets, P300 double tickets and P400 VVIP, which include cocktail lounge, waiters, traditional food, three cocktails, two free shots, one bottle of gin or whiskey, one wine bottle, one still water bottle and secure parking. The VIP ticket is sold at P1000 and it includes all of the things in VIP but attendees get one free cocktail, one shot and either a bottle of gin, whiskey or wine.
