Tipped: Sebina might replace Motlogelwa

BFA National Executive Committee (NEC) member, Carlos Sebina is expected to replace Motlogelwa, who quit the association following reports of misallocation of FIFA funds.

Motlogwela who was the default overseer of BFA finances by virtue of his financial background as a chartered accountant resigned more than a month ago.

Former chief executive officer, Goabaone Taylor was sacked from her position over the misallocation of the FIFA funds that were diverted to other BFA operations without following standard procedure.

This week BFA CEO Mfolo Mfolo said the association’s National Executive Committee (NEC) will soon meet to decide on Motlogelwa’s replacement.

“The president will table the matter at the next NEC meeting. I expect that at the meeting Motlogelwa’s replacement or the overall structure of the NEC will be dealt with extensively. The next NEC meeting will be in two weeks’ time,” he said.

The BFA NEC has not met since Motlogelwa and Taylor left the association. There have been reports that additional member, Sebina, is being eyed for the position but Mfolo said that no one has been identified for the position yet.

“To the best of my knowledge, no one has been identified yet. As I said, the issue will be discussed at the next NEC meeting,” he said.

Sebina also heads the BFA finance and marketing committee. He was among those who opposed Letshwiti at the hotly contested BFA NEC elections two years ago.

There have also been suggestions that second vice president, Masego Nchingane will be elevated to the position with Sebina moving on to take Nchingane's place.

Former BFA president Tebogo Sebego was reportedly approached to replace Motlogelwa but declined the offer. Instead, Sebego is said to have recommended Sebina.
