An innovative musician, Macheso is amongst the best bass guitarist to emerge from Zimbabwe. He is credited for inventing various sounds and dances. Sungura dance and music is derived from another genre called Kanindo, but it owes its existence to Macheso.

The legendary Zimbabwean artist burst onto the music scene in 1998 with his debut album, Magariro, which carried "Pakutema Munda", probably the least noticeable from the album. The show, which is organised by BeyondBrian Entertainment, is expected to attract thousands of locals and Zimbabweans. In an interview with Arts and Culture, BeyondBrian Entertainment spokesperson, Lungisani 'Morefire' Marudu said the extravaganza show is aimed at promoting exchanges in the fields of music, culture and dance.

He highlighted that with their exciting line-up, they promise to be bigger and better with tighter security. He said security will be their main priority as they have engaged a local security company, which will provide 50 guards with an additional 20 private bouncers. Marudu stated that the security company they have engaged has an impressive experience in the field, crowd management and control.

When giving an update on ticket sales, Marudu indicated that they have so far sold over 1,500 tickets and anticipates more sales before the end of this week. He added: “We have been receiving more calls from as far as Zimbabwe with people enquiring on the ticket prices.

We expect to sell over 6,000 tickets in the next two weeks.” When speaking about show headliner Macheso, he said they invited him due to the demand from both the locals and Zimbabweans who reside this side. He stated that Macheso’s performance here would give an opportunity to the citizens of the two nations to unite and bring in cultural exchange opportunities.

From the local shores, Macheso will share the stage with renowned artists such as Franco, Vee Mampeezy, Jeff Matheatu, Slizer, Dinkwenkgoga traditional group and many other local artists. Still on the same tour, Macheso will also perform in Gaborone.
