Looking for financial solutions: Chiefs PIC: PHATSIMO KAPENG

Dicks, through his company FC Cape Town, has since submitted a proposal to the club’s management, which is still being scrutinised. Club spokesperson, Jabu Mookodi confirmed yesterday that they are reviewing the proposal and attending to a few loose ends. “We are just making sure that the contract is more favourable to the club. Mr Dicks carries a lot of experience in marketing and advertising and his contract is centred around being more of a consultant. His job, once the contract is approved, will entail looking for sponsorships for and on behalf of Chiefs.

That is where his strength lies,” Mookodi said yesterday. The Kgatleng giants have been pushing for turning the club into a commercial entity as they look to bounce back to their glorious days. Mookodi said the club management has met several times and they are at a stage where they only left with tying loose ends and then take off. He said in principle, what Dicks offers the Kgatleng giants is what the club has been looking for. “It is just a matter of time before everything can be broken down, fine tuned, agreed upon and then launched,” he said.

With reports that there are some within the club’s hierarchy who are still sceptical and not happy with some contents of the proposal, Mookodi said they must rest assured that the evaluation process will look into it. He said during the evaluation process, everything will be done in the best interest of the club. “This is a breakthrough for the club as you know. We have been looking for sponsors.

We are also in transition from a society to a company and his presence will help achieve that,” he said. In one FC Cape Town’s proposal, the company will maintain, manage and market the club’s stadium and training grounds with the purpose of maximising their utilisation. In the process, the company will hope for increased revenue generation.

The company has also reportedly proposed both partners share net profits in which the club will get 75% with FC Cape Town receiving 25%. Meanwhile, Mookodi also said they are in the process of getting into a partnership with a private doctor in Mochudi. He said the doctor will provide all medical needs to players and also offer ambulance services.

He also said all medical referrals for their players will be done through the said doctor. He said they are also in negotiations so that the sponsorship can also cover officials and supporters. Chiefs are among the favourites to win the Debswana First Division South League and gain promotion to the elite league. They are currently sitting in position three on the log, behind Holy Ghost and URI Black Forest. This weekend they take on Taung Young Strikers at Be Free Park.
