The incident occurred when the 19-year-old couple was walking to Dallas camp ranch at Sandveld farms. According to the police, while on their way the duo got into a misunderstanding and the boyfriend ended up hitting his girlfriend’s two-year-old son with an axe to death.

Confirming to be investigating the case, Shoshong’s assistant police station commander, Assistant Superintendent George Simataa Mabuta said they have since arrested the duo and charged them with murder for conspiring to bury the toddler in secret.

“Then, after realising that the toddler was lifeless the couple conspired to bury the two-year-old boy in an aardvark hole, kept what transpired a secret and continued with their journey to Dallas camp ranch. When returning to Moralane village on April 5th 2022, the toddler’s mother came alone something that shocked her family and they started questioning the young mother as to where the child was until she disclosed the December 23rd 2021 events,” Mabuta said.

Mabuta stated that the family reported the matter to the police and the Mahalapye native boyfriend was followed and arrested yesterday in Molepolole. The senior police officer revealed that investigations into the matter are ongoing and have since requested permission from the district commissioner to dig out the baby’s remains.
