One of the suspects, a 32-year-old Bobonong native, was shot dead by the police following an exchange of fire between the armed robbers and members of the Botswana Police Service.

Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Theriso Thatayotlhe told The Monitor that the armed robbers got away with over P35, 000 from the family store.

He stated that the remaining trio is still at large and that they are pleading with members of the public to help with any information that could lead to their arrest.

“The quartet was interrupted by the police whilst in the middle of the robbery. They exchanged fire with the police and in the process, the Bobonong lad was shot dead,” Thatayotlhe said.

“The deceased, who was found in possession of P11, 000 that was suspected to be part of the proceeds of crime, has since been identified by his family and will soon be handed to them for burial.”

Police have since confirmed that the deceased was on bail for two separate robbery incidents that occurred in Ramotswa and Boatle in 2020.
