Investigating the case, the District Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer, Superintendent Bannetse Baakile said the murder incident occurred on Friday following a misunderstanding between brothers that left one dead.

Baakile stated that investigations into the matter are still ongoing to establish the cause of the pair’s fight and what really transpired.

“While fighting it is alleged that the older brother ended up stabbing his younger brother with a sharp object and landed him in hospital,” he explained.

“The deceased, a 31-year-old man, was hospitalised at Mahalapye hospital until he succumbed to his injuries the following day (Saturday).”

Furthermore, Baakile said the 34-year-old suspect, who was initially charged with grievous bodily harm has since been arrested and he is now facing a single count of murder. He added that the elder brother is likely to be arraigned before the Mahalapye Magistrate’s Court today (Monday).
