In a statement released today, the BFL said a decision was reached during a board meeting on Saturday, to reward teams with cash despite the absence of a title sponsor. The runners-up will receive P500,000 with the third-placed side getting P250,000.

Other sides will receive P200,000 or less depending on their placing on the log, the BFL said. Clubs have been paid their final instalment of P100,000 in grants, bringing the total payout for all the sides this season to P4.8 million.

Gaborone United is on course to pocket the P1 million while Township Rollers could get the runners-up cheque. During Saturday's meeting, the BFL resolved to adopt an Operational Plan meant to guide the operations of the clubs.

An agreement with the Footballers Union of Botswana was also approved as the BFL seeks to strengthen dialogue and ensure the views of professional players are considered.
