Yvonne Chaka Chaka to reignite classics

Director of Ba Isago Events and Marketing, Agnes Mohwasa announced on Monday that Yvonne Chaka Chaka will be the main performing act for the Ba Isago Easter Experience to be held on April 14.
The South African songstress will perform alongside Dr Vom, Sereetsi & The Natives, DJ Tony, and DJ McJon. Mohwasa stated the Ba Isago Easter Experience was organised with the intent of specifically catering for mature audiences that have been abandoned in the resurgence of the entertainment industry since the end of COVID-19's State of Emergency. “Whenever there’s entertainment these days it’s just for young people, which means a lot of mature people are missing out on entertainment.
We intentionally made this event for elderly people so that they can have somewhere to go,” Mohwasa said. “When COVID-19 came around, elders were the most affected and for two and a half years we’ve been living in fear. This event is meant to let elders step out and relax again. We want to take people back to happily relive their younger days,” she added. Like Mohwasa, Yvonne Chaka Chaka expressed her gratitude to be part of this mature audience-focused initiative. “We weren’t born old, we also want to be entertained. We want to remember when we were in our 20s and we danced the night away,” Yvonne Chaka Chaka stated. Mohwasa did, however, stress that the event is not going to be exclusive to older generations and that younger people over the age of 18 will be permitted to attend so long as they give way and respect to the elderly.
Yvonne Chaka Chaka additionally comically warned the youth, “You better know how to keep up, we’ve been in this game a long time." Mohwasa further added that the event intends to revive the energy of the city stating: “We’ve allowed the city to become too quiet. We’re looking to not only bring life back to Ba Isago but also to the city as a whole to be happy again.” Assistant director of facilities, Bobo Keikotlhaile noted the heightened cautiousness of the elderly assured the public that in creating this event, Ba Isago has taken every relevant precaution to ensure the safety of the attendees of the event. “As much as we wish to bring life back to the city, we know a lack of security can make or break an event.
As such, we’ve contracted Security Systems as our main security partner. They will be watching over our three vetting systems from the gate and around the premises to ensure people that aren’t supposed to be there do not attend,” Keikotlhaile said. He added: “For health and safety, we will require all attendees to provide proof of vaccination or a negative rapid test. We also have a partnership with MRI for any accidents that may occur.” Mohwasa said Ba Isago is still open to commercial partnerships for the Easter Experience to provide a more robust venture for attendees.
