The Debswana First Division South encounter, which promises to be a thriller, has been scheduled to take place at SSG ground. Under Tebele, Magosi have enjoyed a fine run, which includes knocking out Premier League side, Masitaoka in the Orange FA Cup. He took over from Elias Chinyemba and has since cut the lead between them and the log leaders to four points with an average of 12 matches played.

Magosi now occupy the third spot with 22 points and a return to their ancestral home, River Plate appears to have brought back the fans as evidenced by their weekend’s clash against Black Forest. Captain Arnold Mampori continues to prove that he is the man to lead the side back into the Premier League. Mampori, together with Khumoetsile Kufigwa, have used their experience in playing in the elite league to inspire the young teammates as they battle to keep pace with Black Forest and second-placed Holy Ghost.

Against Matebele, Magosi face another tricky side wounded by a 1-0 defeat to Uniao Flamengo Santos. The loss to Santos came a few days after they lost their head coaches, Michael Mogaladi and Innocent Ranku to Masitaoka. The club has since roped in Ikageng Tsatsi as the interim coach, assisted by Ogopotse Tshule. Matebele have dropped to position six on the log with 18 points, eight behind log leaders and four adrift of their Sunday opponents. They have been boosted by the news that experienced defender, Obonwe Moswate, Mbase Ngakaetsile as well as Duncan Tshireletso resumed training this week and will be available for selection on Sunday. Motswate sustained an eye injury following a nasty elbow challenge in the match against Santos and suffered inflammation of the eyelid.

He has since successfully received medical assistance. Tshireletso on the other hand recovered from a tendon injury. Ngakaetsile has also fully recovered from the presentation of autoimmune hepatitis suffered from the COVID-19 booster shot.

Still on Sunday, Black Forest will look to bounce back to winning ways when they host Matebejana in Mmankgodi. Any slip-ups could see them lose the top spot to Holy Ghost who are currently sitting at position two with 24 points. Holy Ghost are home to Broadhurst United tomorrow.
