The Under-17s will host Tanzania at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium for the second leg of the 2022 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers. The home girls are heavily trailing after losing 7-0 in Tanzania a week ago.

Speaking at a press conference held in Gaborone on Friday, BFA public relations officer, Tumo Mpatane said 10,000 fans will be allowed into the stadium for free as they hope the 12th man could spur the team to turn around the heavy scoreline. However, the fans must be fully vaccinated or had tested negative for COVID-19 in the last 48 hours before the match.

The Under-17s head coach, Oaitse Moeti is aware of the opposition's threat but still remains adamant that his charges can turn the scores around. "The first leg against Tanzania was big exposure for me as coach as you know it was my first ever match in this role. It was also a big exposure for the players themselves for playing a match of that level. 7-0 is a big score line, we can come back.

As they scored seven in their backyard, I believe we can too," he said. Moeti, however, has had his preparations for the tie disrupted the players' academic commitments. The team's camp has been dispersed since returning home early last week and will only regroup tomorrow before leaving for Francistown. "We have a lot of challenges, firstly is that we are playing with school kids.

Most of these players were yet to report to their senior schools before leaving for Tanzania as you may know many are Form 4 students. Since we returned home, we have allowed them to report to their placements. So we are not sure if they will be able to follow the training proramme we have given them and keep up with the fitness levels from Tanzania," he said. The Junior Mares will be hosting Tanzania at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium on Sunday afternoon with kick off at 3pm.
