The music festival called ‘Zahara at the Park’ was held at Pavilion in Fairgrounds this past Saturday and it was organised by Krafted Vision. What made matters worse is that the organizers, Krafted Vision, knew beforehand that the Loliwe hitmaker was not going to make it to the event and yet they let people into the venue.

The organisers announced later on the night that the person they had been waiting for since 2pm will not perform as scheduled. According to the performance schedule, Zahara was supposed to perform at 9pm. The show itself was supposed to kick-start at 2pm. But around 7pm no artists had performed yet and they were still doing sound check.

In a side interview with Showtime, one of the organisers who spoke on anonymity said Zahara had informed them that she had a car breakdown few kilometres from the border and therefore she was not going to arrive in Botswana as scheduled. “She said even if the car could be fixed she didn’t want to travel here during late hours. We never anticipated this to happen and we would like to apologise to our patrons for this unforeseen situation,” he said.

The organiser also said they had fully paid Zahara therefore at the moment they will hold talks about another make-up show. Even though local folk jazz outfit, Sereetsi & The Natives had already warmed up the stage and serenaded the crowd, so many people were disappointed to find out very late that Zahara was not coming. “I am really disappointed; I came here solely to see Zahara, no one else.

What the organisers did is deception and I am going to demand my refund after this,” uttered one disappointed reveller. Also besides the fact that the organisers hid vital information from their patrons, a lot of revellers did not show up as expected and concert was not really vigorously marketed as it should have been. Whether or not Krafted Vision will stage another make-up show remains to be seen but the Saturday event was definitely a big flop.
