The weekend’s loss is a fourth in consecutive. Wanderers on Saturday visited Popa looking to escape from the bottom half whilst their opponents are chasing the league leaders.

It looked like a tight affair from the start as Segolame Boy tried goalkeeper, Michael Pepukani from outside on the 16th minute. Four minutes later on the other end, Comfort Dikupa rose highest to meet a cross but his header wet wide off the post. Boy once again went close to opening the scores but the goalkeeper saved his curled shot on the 22nd minute. On the half hour, Onkarabile Ratanang from a free kick had his shot saved. Two minutes later, Katlego Ralegoreng floated a cross in but Kabelo Dambe parried the ball for a corner. Popa eventually got the lead on the 39th minute as Mosha Gaolaolwe nodded in Bame Morwalela’s flicked header.

Rollers took a goal lead into the halftime break.

Seven minutes from the break, Pepukani got off the goal line to deny Tlhalefo Molebatsi on the break. On the 57th minute, Gaolaolwe came close once again as his headed effort was cleared off the line. Wanderers tried looking for an equaliser but faced a determined Rollers’ side. Just over 10 minutes to time, Sikele set up substitute, Jean Bertrand Iradukunda but the latter could only hit the crossbar as he waits for a first Rollers’ goal. Congolese defender, Lebeau Binemo Madi was given his Rollers’ debut with five minutes to go as Popa sealed the win to keep close to Gaborone United.

“I think tactically we were good.

The organisation and the structure were good. We knew what to expect from Rollers, so we had to sit and wait and look for the counter but did not work on our favor. I think we lost to a painful goal, it is a painful goal to concede. I think we did everything well but we lost,” Wanderers’ Daniel ‘Chico’ Nare said after the game. His counter part, Romain Folz was content with his side’s play but felt the team could have gotten more from the game.
