GIMC will on April 16, host a music show dubbed the Afro Tech Fest, a new event to the stable. The event will be held at Purple Paradise and Experience. The annual GIMC, which has gained popularity as one of the biggest events in Southern Africa over the years, is scheduled to finally make a return this year, also marking its ninth anniversary.

According to the founder and event organiser of GIMC Fish Pabalinga, the Afro Tech fest has been added to the list of the stable as part of the build up to the main event billed for September.

He said the idea is to put together mini events throughout the years as a warm up to the main one. “The GIMC aims to return with a bang as part of the build up to the main event. Afro Tech Fest is a new event within the GIMC stable. We are hosting it in April as we haven’t hosted any festival since 2019 due to COVID-19, so we are back now with a bang and putting together a list of hot mini events leading to the main festival on the 3rd September 2022.” Pabalinga said the Afro Tech fest has put together the strongest possible line-up of well-known Afro tech DJ's from Botswana and South Africa.

DJs Sun El Musician, Lemon and Herb, Benny T, AIMO, Hapex Guru, Rudo, N.S.I, Rosey Shades, Soul Man BW are amongst the entertainers set to mesmerise Afro Tech Fest patrons. Pabalinga said Afro tech music is on the rise as a music genre, as such they found it fit to bring it through and offer a fresh event from the normal music genres that have dominated the last couple of months.

“We invite you to come on Saturday April 16, 2022 at Purple Paradise and experience music from the best in Sun EL Musician, Lemon and Herb,” said Pabalinga. Pabalinga explained that the two-year hiatus that GIMC took, negatively affected artists and the whole creative industry. He said the whole creative events value chain has been stifled by the no activities in the last two years, and this is one of many events that they will be doing to help support the value chain as much as possible. “GIMC in its true colours happens every first week of September and that will not change.

The other events that you see happening are in support of the main events that will be from August 27 until September 3, 2022. Remember the last two years have been like no other, so we had to move things around a little bit, hence the one off Champagne event in December 2021,” he added. Tickets for the Afro tech Fest are on Sale at Webtickets for P200 and P750 for VVIP. The VVIP comes with a complimentary bottle of Tanqueray and six mixers.
