However, his legacy still stands strong as his wife Sylvia Tshanda does not want to let what her husband built for decades die. Sylvia is now managing Dalom Music and Splash bands. In an interview with Arts & Culture this week, she said her decision to keep her husband’s legacy alive was because of the immense fan base he left behind. “They made me realise that I need to carry on with his legacy. They give me lots of love and support with everything that I do. I am not really reviving Splash but I am just keeping the legacy alive.

I have recently released the new Dalom Kids album dubbed ‘Forgiveness’. The album is doing very well and this was the first project I did after my husband's passing in 2019,” she said. However, she explained that she will be working with a local splash lover, Koloi Fisca who was very close to her husband. Sylvia also explained that Koloi Fisca used to do some errands for her husband therefore she will be working closely with him on disco events to be hosted in Botswana. Koloi Fisca was Dan’s biggest fan and friend. He then started touring around the country and outside with Dan.

He later started selling his (Dan Tshanda) CDs and t-shirts.

He was also given jobs to do outdoor advertising before events. Sylvia added that she is currently busy in talks with some local promoters adding that she has a marketing team arranging to host a big launch for the new album. She said they intend to host the show in April around Gaborone and the venue will be revealed at a later stage. She also explained that they will, as it is a norm, include local disco artistes and the pantsulas on their festivals. “I am now involved with them and we are also in talks with Vee Mampeezy to be part of the launch.

My husband did an album with Vee called ‘Siyazenzela’ so he is always willing to give a hand when we need him. Dalom Kids’ new album was produced and composed by Walter Sithole, the former splash band member and myself. We added some songs that my husband left unreleased,” she explained. Forgiveness has 11 songs namely; Bana ba daddy, Kedibonye, Hoza Chomi, Forgiveness, We celebrate you and Someone to mention but a few.

According to Sylvia, the album was doing very well in the market. Moreover, she explained that they were carrying on with the legacy saying the good thing is that she used to work with Dan in the studio and learned a lot from him.

She said she learnt how to produce, compose, write lyrics and make melodies. With the team that she has, she said she will continue to release good albums for Dalom Kids, Matshikos, Splash, Montana and Peacock. “I just ask the fans to help me support the legacy by not sharing music and buy the original CDs and even getting them on our platform so I can sustain the legacy. I am the one managing the legacy with Dan Tshanda’s children. He left me with three handsome boys and they also have an interest in music".
