This is in addition to the P11,000 each player will pocket from the Lucara Diamond Company sponsorship.

More cash incentives are expected to follow after the team secured a maiden place at the biennial tournament. Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Tumiso Rakgare said the government had pledged P550, 000 to the Mares.

The coach, Gaelethoo 'Ronaldo' Nkutlwisang will receive P15,000 while the assistant gets P12,500 and the rest of the officials go home with P10,000 each.

Speaking during a dinner hosted for the team in Francistown on Wednesday night, Rakgare said the incentives were a sign of commitment to sport development by the government.

The Mares beat Zimbabwe 3-1 away last Friday, before the Mighty Warriors caused a mighty scare with a 2-0 win in Francistown. However, the Mares proceed to the finals due to the away goals rule.
