Zambian man commits suicide by drinking acid

Officer Commanding, Paul Oketsang said the incident that was reported on February 18, 2022 occurred at Lotsane ward in Palapye.
Oketsang said the Zambian national, who was vomiting blood, was rushed to Palapye hospital and later referred to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) where he succumbed to acid poisoning on Saturday.
“According to his brother, the deceased had disclosed his intentions to take his own life stating that he was struggling to cope with life challenges,” he said.
“Yes, I agree that life has its own challenges but committing suicide brings trauma to family members. I am pleading with people to respect the sanctity of life, avoid being cowards and face life challenges head on and overcome those problems.”
