The building will house multiple storey blocks for administration, lecture rooms and students' accommodation. The model is based on 100% equity contribution with an equal partnership between the BPOPF and BAC.

The project, which is developed through a PPP model through a Special Purpose Vehicle called Campus Investment Partners (Pty) Ltd, was approved in 2019 by the BAC board of directors. Messidor Investments has been engaged as the project facilitators tasked with pre-construction, construction and post-construction services. Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony recently, BAC board member Franciscah Molefe said the 8,000 square metres of land was purchased from the Botswana Development Corporation in 2006. Nestled in Plot 61922, she said they plan to build a world-class, new generation facility to improve teaching and learning. “It has been an ambition for us to develop it to expand our facilities and the implementation of the project comes at the right and opportune time when we are ready to expand and evolve into a full business sciences university,” she said.

According to Molefe, the building is an investment for the college as it will reduce rentals of their other offices, which they are currently paying. She said Absa bank is the financier of the BAC capital contribution on the investment. On his part, BPOPF principal officer Moemedi Malindah said this venture contributes to the expansion of the education sector, infrastructure industry, procurement of goods and services, as well as the development of skilled manpower.

The BPOPF believes that this investment will contribute to the upliftment of Botswana’s economy as a whole - both now and into the future. “We are grateful to have the opportunity to contribute to Botswana’s future generations of leaders through our investment in this institution. As we break ground into what will surely be a physical embodiment of Botswana’s growth and the infinite possibilities that lay ahead for all of us, the BPOPF stands proud to be a part of a community of leaders that continues to lay the foundations of development and progress,” he said.
