Motlogelwa has reportedly fallen out with other BFA NEC members following the mis-allocation of FIFA funds, amounting to P6 million. The money was diverted to fund the association's internal operations.

Motlogelwa was expected to hand in his resignation letter today, to counter plans to suspend him by other NEC members. There are reports that some in the BFA NEC were planning to move a motion to suspend him at an emergency meeting scheduled for later this week. As first vice president and due to his strong background in finance, Motlogelwa was in charge of BFA's purse.

Motlogelwa reportedly believes that he has done nothing wrong but is resigning to protect his image and accounting profession.

Late last year, the BFA suspended its chief executive officer (CEO) Goabaone Taylor in relation to the misallocation of the FIFA funds. Taylor recently underwent a disciplinary hearing in relation to the matter and is awaiting the verdict.

But there is swelling opinion within the NEC that if at all the CEO erred, she did not act alone or there was a bit of negligence on the part of Motlogelwa as the overseer of BFA funds. Motlogelwa escaped suspension by a whisker in January this year when the Botswana Football League (BFL) chairperson, Nicholas Zakhem proposed that he be suspended in relation to the saga.
