According to unsubstantiated accounts, the deceased, who was a deputy sheriff by profession, allegedly took his life after he nearly beat his girlfriend to death after a heated argument.

The deceased is alleged to be married and a devotee of one of the known churches in the city.

Central Police Station commander, Superintendent Lebalang Maniki said the terrible incident took place in the early hours of Friday.

He said the deceased was found hanging from a tree near Chinatown flats in the west, not far from Donga main road.

The station head stated that they were able to identify the deceased from came from Tutume village, who was staying in the Gerald Estate location.

When asked about speculative accounts on social media, Maniki said that investigations are still at a preliminary stage, therefore, being too early to comment on anything.

“I cannot deny nor confirm if the man had assaulted a woman before taking his life because the matter is still fresh. Even the issue of his marital status and occupation cannot be discussed because we are investigating the matter,” he said.

The Central police boss further said they are still to get full details on the matter and the deceased’s background.

Meanwhile, police in Tshesebe are investigating an incident in which a mentally disturbed man from Zimbabwe was found dead along the road at Themashanga village.

Tshesebe station commander said the man whose identity is unknown was found motionless with signs showing he suffered serious health complications leading to his death.
