'Stay in exile while we clear the way’

They also wanted feedback from his uncles following an assignment they gave them to find out from President Mokgweetsi Masisi on what went wrong between him and his predecessor, Khama.
Orator of note, Rrangwane Kgosi Mokhutshwane Sekgoma started off by asking for a song from morafe before delivering feedback. Sekgoma told the morafe that they made multiple efforts to meet Masisi, but have thus far not succeeded.
He said after being told they could only meet the Minister [for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration], they eventually were offered a meeting with the President only in the presence of Khama. He said they had to discuss a way forward with morafe stating that they had to be cautious not to bring Khama only for him to fall into a trap.
“Kgosikgolo said I should inform you that he is in good health and has never had not even a headache since he left the country. He said I should tell you that he thanks you for the prayers and they should continue. He said he will be waiting for you to tell him when he should come home. He said you will tell me when you feel it is safe for him to come back home. It is your call,” he said.
Sekgoma said it was not easy to trust government intentions because they have in the past seen the Directorate of Intelligence and Security harass Khama at his residence.
Just as morafe was about to be given the floor to comment, Tshekedi ‘TK’ Khama asked for the microphone. It was the first time he attended a meeting about the return of his brother at the Kgotla.
After salutations, TK assured BagaMmangwato that indeed ‘Mong wa bone’ is in good health and is ready to come home.
“He said I should greet you. He is well taken care of that side. He wanted to come with me here. But I told him to remain behind and let BagaMmangwato finish speaking to government first. I also advised him to stay in exile because some people want to attack him,” he said.
TK said he told his brother to wait for talks between the parties to end because ‘go nale bashimanenyana’ who want to pounce on him if he returns. He said this would hurt BagaMmangwato who could react in an unprecedented way.
Attendants had come from at least seven sub councils including Mahalapye, Palapye, Bobirwa, Tonota, Tutume, Boteti and Serowe. They agreed that Khama should remain in exile as they have not yet prepared for his safe return.
