African Attire on Fleek bigger, better

Since its first installation, the event has been held at Bojanala Waterfront, however this year there is a venue change. In an interview ,Coulorful People manager, David Letswiti said African Attire on Fleek Gaborone, which grows every year has changed the venue to the Royal Aria stadium (tanning pitch) because they believe it was going to make this year a very memorable one and will be a great experience for patrons.
“We started last year by introducing Leteisi on Fleek as a new baby in the block, which went very well and then hosted African Attire on Fleek in Francistown as it was falling on our annual calendar. Following our African Attire on Fleek calendar we have now started working on two African Attire on Fleek events which will be hosted as follows; Gaborone in March 12, 2022 at Royal Aria stadium and Maun on April 17, 2022 at Maun stadium,” he said.
Furthermore, he explained that in order to grow the event, they have introduced the ‘Golden Circle’, and its focus was to theme it with the traditional and cultural wears found within Botswana. This is a way of trying to make people from different cultural backgrounds or tribes appreciate other cultures and how they could make their traditional wear look fashionable.
Letshwiti also said by that they believed it would make Batswana appreciate their culture and take pride in it. He explained that the Golden Circle as a new development, is themed with Xhosa wear, as they believed they had the Xhosa’s in Manyana adding that that helped because many Batswana are now aware that they have the Xhosa’s within the country not only in South Africa as most people think.
“This shows that even though we promote the fashion of our traditional wear, it also educate people about cultures within our country. Indeed African Attire on Fleek promotes cultural exchange.
In our Golden Circle Experience with Xhosa wear, patrons are expected to wear 100% Xhosa wear, there will be seating arrangement, exclusive cash bar, exclusive toilets, closer to the stage arrangement, and photo booth,” he said.
This year’s international performer includes PJ Powers, Kelly Khumalo, Malome Vector and Big Zulu. Local artists includes Dr Vom, Ditiro Leero, Dato Seiko and Kertz Johnson while DJs includes The Jazz Man, KSB, 4DD, Lexx, Melcado, Bunny and Frostbite. More artists will be revealed by next week. They also introduced an online sales platform where one can buy tickets at their comfort, of which the reception is huge.
According to Letshwiti, the online sale is cheaper compared to buying at selected stores such as Liquarama. "We have two early birds tickets running online and through Liqourama stores.

Other tickets on sale includes general tickets (yonkento experience), P150 single, P250 double sold online only. Then there is P200 single and P300 double sold at Liquorama, Golden Circle (Xhosa Experience) is P300 single, P500 double sold online only and native ultimate VIP experience package". Letshwiti also explained that they partnered with Native Events and Nubar as their VIP partners. Their tickets are sold at P650 single ticket. It includes welcome drink, finger foods and VIP parking, double (platinum set up) sold at P1800.
