Ditsebe talks new music, opportunities

Ditsebe is a social science graduate from the University of Botswana whose talent cannot go unnoticed. She explained that her music was inspired by walks of life, adventure and love. She is into house genre but prefers to be a versatile creative as she made collaborations in genres such as Amapiano and Afro-Pop. “I have one Afro house album titled Motheo released in 2019, produced by Tshepo Lesole, Dj Chabo, ZHR, Roy Kasale, Raptured Roots and recorded at Hi-Note studio.
I also have one Amapiano Ep released in 2021 by DJ HarryCane at MN Entertainment Studio and six singles dubbed; You are the one (2018 by Roy Kasale and recorded at Hi Note studio), Because of you (2020 by Raptured Roots recorded at Pjay studio), Im So Tired, Without You both released in 2021 and both produced by DJ HarryCane at MN entertainment studio,” she further revealed.
Furthermore, Ditsebe explained that she uses social media to advertise her work. All her songs are available on all digital stores and distributed across all media platforms. Lately, she says she enjoys the concept of collaboration because of its power. She said there was time for studio, video productions, songwriting, networking, rest and adventure.
However, she pointed out that inadequate resources and funding was her greatest challenge. She added that having to meet creative minds that are into pleasure tendencies more than the music business was also a challenge. “It is challenging to work with people who do not take music serious or believe in its power. So for me, I am frank, clear and professional.
If there is time to work, I work. I research on talent, integrity, history of a creative before I work with anyone to lessen dealing with troublesome personalities or to have better understanding of who I am dealing with,” she explained. Ditsebe also explained that she was focused on creating opportunities for herself, other new talents in music, filming, production, dance and graphics. She added that her visit to China in 2019 was a great milestone for her as she got a club invitation for appearance in Shanghai Club 158 where five of her songs from Motheo album were played by the DJs there and opened a lot of doors for her music in China and future collaborations.
In November 2018, she said Capetown TV invited her to perform there and she aced their show. She added that collaborations with Scar, DJ Chabo, DJ HarryCane, ZHR (Israel), Balaclava Blanco, Raptured Roots, Plus 267 Golden Boys and SuperNovas Dancers is an achievement because she respected all those brands. In 2021 she was nominated for BOMU 2021 awards for the best music video and she won the award. “My market is international. As a professional researcher, I study my music. I know where my music is most consumed and selling.
That is Japan, Botswana, Zambia, Danmark, Chinese Taipei and Taiwan. I hope my base grows deeper roots into the world. So if I have to touch base I know our population is small, but I see a lot of potential in the music business even through diversification,” she said.
She expressed great concern on how local music promoters fail upcoming talents saying most of artistes they hire their friends. She urged young artistes to trust in God and always work hard, network and learn. She told them to live through experience, gain and loss, saying one day they will reach their dreams. The young singer is also a certified speaker (Shanghai Normal University), Miss Earth Botswana 2012; a professional house DJ graduate from YDJ academy based in Botswana. She hails from Serowe.
