The festival held at Bee 6 Club in Mochudi was headed for a disaster from the beginning as it shared a date with the funeral of Bakgatla Queen Mother Kathleen Kgafela who was buried in Mochudi that morning.

The event organiser, DJ Easy B told the media last week that they could not afford to postpone or cancel the event despite the tragedy that had befallen Bakgatla. Although he long announced the festival date before the passing of the Bakgatla queen mother, DJ Easy B revealed that he did not think his event would affect the funeral. Meanwhile, the rain which started faling in Mochudi that morning also dampened the mood especially that the event was held on the outdoor of Bee 6 club.

A line-up of local DJs who were supposed to perform and warm up the concert before the main acts being DJ Merlon and Sdala B & Paige from South Africa arrived on the stage but did not get that chance as there was a power cut at the main stage. Few patrons who were there ended up resorting to the entertainment inside the club as consolation.

But the organisers eventually managed to find a backup generator and the party went on as planned. By midnight, some revellers who were coming mostly from Bee 6 bars starting filling up the sombre atmosphere at the festival and finally there was positive mood for organisers. Other night revellers were outside the venue and most of them were there to party inside the club as usual. But they could not get any of that as they were required to buy tickets to gain access into the venue.

As the place was finally getting back to life, the first act to perform and revive the lukewarm stage was local DJ and producer Chef Gustos who did his best to save the night as more showers started pouring. The event, which has been running for four years, now is held in Kgatleng every January. The annual festive event held in Mahalapye on Christmas Eve, HCC is the parent of this event and it is meant to thank HCC patrons for a successful event. Over the years residents of Mahalapye and the surrounding areas had complained that this event should be held in Mahalapye just like the parent event. Organisers has dismissed this by outlining many factors among them being resources.
