Speaking during a media brief on Friday, the event organiser, DJ Easy B said they announced the festival before the tragedy of the Bakgatla queen mother therefore at the moment they are unable to postpone or cancel the event.

Instead, he said what they will do is that they will attend the funeral and only start the festival after. “I don’t think we will do anything that will disturb the funeral arrangements. This event can never start before the funeral is over,” he highlighted. Asked if he had talked to Bakgatla royals about hosting the concert on the day, DJ Easy B said theirs is a business therefore dikgosi can never be involved in any way in the matter.

He said over the years they have always held the festival in Kgatleng despite the fact that the parent event is held in Mahalapye every Christmas Eve. DJ Easy B who is fresh from a successful event this past festive said he had a clash with people from Mahalapye questioning the choice of location being Kgatleng. “It’s impossible to take it back to Mahalapye because we are looking at a lot of things.

It’s January and most of HCC patrons at this time have returned to their bases across Botswana no wonder we can’t take it to Mahalapye,”he said. DJ Easy B added that this time around they chose Mochudi because it is easily accessible for people coming from Gaborone and even Mahalapye. “People from Mochudi and Kgatleng give us a lot of support during our HCC event in December so it is befitting that we host the Appreciation Party in their village,” he said.

He also said the event will be an outdoor experience since it will be held in the outdoors of Bee 6 Club. DJ Easy also revealed that they will have two dance floors which is the festival outside and another music setup inside the club. He said their artists’ line-up will be 99% local and only two acts from South Africa being DJ Merlon and Sdala B & Paige. He said their previous event in December 2021 went well despite the fact that one of their artists being Franco didn’t arrive in time and ended up not performing.

He apologised for that and promised HCC patrons that Franco will make up for that in their next event. Early bird tickets are sold at P100 each, standard costs P150 and the tickets are available at Web Tickets and all Spar outlets in Botswana.
