The defender went on to enjoy a fruitful spell with the Reds. He became a key member of the squad across the years and recently won his first major title with the team, Orange FA Cup.

However, the defender has seen his playing minutes reduced as captain, Tshepo Maikano and Thato Kebue built a strong partnership in the heart of GU defence. As per Monitor Sport sources, Bonsu was pushed out of the exit door after the re-signing of towering Namibian defender, Kennedy Amutenya. Alongside Nigerian centre half, Louis Chido who joined in the off season, Bonsu has been de-registered for this campaign. "The club needed to free up a foreign player spot and they decided that Bonsu should be de-registered and Amutenya took his place. Louis Chido is also leaving the club despite joining just last year.

The club is awaiting a striker from Namibia so they had to let go of another foreign player," the source said. Amutenya made his return to the club in a Friday's 3-0 win over Security Systems while Bonsu was nowhere the match day squad. The Reds are also said to be on the verge of signing, former Kaizer Chiefs reserve team striker, Sizwe Thwala.

The striker watched the Friday win from the stands and is said to have started training with the team. Quizzed on the player movements on Friday, GU's head coach, Innocent Morapedi could not commit to an answer. "Sometimes as a coach there are recommendations that you make but the business that I am interested in is here (playing field). But there are decisions that are recommended and initiated by those who can do it. Both of them are not getting game time and if they were to go, then may God bless them," he said.
