The special congress was meant to discuss financial reports that were not adopted during the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The congress was also expected to adopt elections guidelines as the Federation prepares for elections as well as the adoption of a new constitution.

The new document would allow clubs to participate in elections which means candidates have to start their campaigns at club level. According to information reaching this publication, affiliates did not attend the virtual special congress because the Federation did not assist them with data bundles. BVF vice president-administration, Ndibo Lebala confirmed to Sport Monitor that the affiliates did not meet a quorum. “Six out of 13 attended.

All those who came were greatly disappointed. We are meeting again on Wednesday and the constitution allows us to proceed with the congress even if a quorum is not formed,” he said. Lebala also confirmed that they did not supply the affiliates with data as expected. He said the challenge was that they are trying to save money as they prepare for the elections.

He also added that they want the elective congress to be physical. The much anticipated elections are expected to usher in new leadership after the incumbent president, Daniel Molaodi is not seeking re-election.

The Federation has announced a competitive calendar which is expected to be kicked off by beach volleyball tournament. The national league is also expected to make a come back.
