Inspired by the trendy phrases, Figos whose knack for creativity is exceptional, saw an opportunity to tap into the festive vibe and give his fans something they can groove to. In an interview with Showtime, Figos, real name Ofentse Modikwa, admitted that he never anticipated that the song would later become a festive jam.

Now even into the New Year, TikTok videos of people dancing to the song are dominating social media platforms and the musician could not be more proud. Figos, who is one of the wonderkids to come out of Vee’s Black Money Makers (BMM) record label, said he released Ke gogobisa seriti on November 25, 2021 because he knew the song will be a crossover to 2022. “I always do these underground streets releases. I push these songs through social media and the intention is to make them viral even though they are not on radio stations and TV,” he said.

Figos said he realised that people love these trendy phrases no wonder he decided to join in through music. He said the song was produced by Thapelo Wa Mojuta, the same person who produced his previous single titled Beke le beke.

He said he released Ke gogobisa seriti the same way he releases his songs but was shocked to find that people loved it and it was everywhere. “Sometimes you release a song and never know that it could catapult you into another level. I haven’t performed it yet and so far I have received so many performance requests. Some people want to see the artist behind the song,” Figos added.

He added that going forward the intention is organising a tour for Batswana to get the feel of the song during a live performance. Figos said he wants to host more day events so that children can attend. He said by end of January he would have set the date of his upcoming album release.
