In an interview with Showtime, he said the song has been highly received both locally and outside like in Nigeria, Lesotho and South Africa. She embarked into the music industry years ago but got recognised in 2018 after her collaboration in six songs with Culture Spears. “The way things are in this new life we are living in, a lot of people need therapy so my songs are therapy on their own.

The message is bringing hope and motivation. The other thing I fused my Afro soul music with the new trending Amapiano tunes the aim being to engage the young generation audience since they fell in love with Amapiano,” she said. Furthermore, she stated that her first single was Ishe feat Spiza Valantino, and then did an album tittled Sengwe Se Teng where she featured Gongmaster, Una Sell and Casper the Golden Voice. In 2021, she did her single at Raindrop Records titled Phola which was a very emotional song talking about hope after breakup. Still in 2021 she released one of the best 10 tracks album titled Libonile feat Greg Burkimbila (Burkina Faso), Baxter, Ottizy.

Deejay, Major Tee and Pious Major recorded at Raindrop Records too with four songs from Touch Records. Three of the songs in that album are Amapiano and the remaining seven are Afro soul. In November 2021, Dottie released Phakathi that is Amapiano. It talks about letting God live in you. She explained that in these trying times people need God.

She said all her singles and albums were produced by Thatie Sghubhu. Dottie wrote all her songs. She also explained that the public had highly received her work more especially in Lesotho, South Africa and Nigeria. She also highlighted that she marketed her music through online platforms such as distrokid, audiomack., iTunes, YouTube and Spotify. “Locally, I am grateful to RB1, RB2 and Duma fm. The papers are also playing a vital role. My voice is unique, and the way I write my songs is spiritual so people easily get attached to the music. The biggest challenges I faced as an artiste is that local promoters do not recognise a lot of upcoming musicians.

So the only bookings I got were outside and few that my management organised. It is sad how local promoters only recognise outsiders and established local artist only. I managed to penetrate outside markets and international collaborations,” she said. She added that the local market was a challenge more especially being booked for shows more especially for an upcoming musician.

She explained that local promoters had their own people who are mostly well-established musicians. Her advise to upcoming artists is for them to never give up, push their work, be professional. Shew said even if they do not get booked, they must push outside where they will get the recognition they deserve. She also boasted of performing in Lesotho Butha Buthe and Hlotse and also Bethlehem SA.
