The competition, powered by MyZaka, will see four teams selected from last season's top eight sides. Supporters can pick from Jwaneng Galaxy, Township Rollers, Orapa United, Security Systems, Gaborone United, Prisons XI, Mahalapye Railway Highlanders and BDF XI. Speaking during the launch held at the Mascom Innovation Centre, Mascom chief executive officer, Dzene Makhwade-Seboni said the cup is a one-day extravaganza. “When we speak of Mascom and sports, we often say “Re morotloetsi oo popota wa tsa metshameko”. Sport remains an area that as Mascom we delight in supporting.

From our early days as a corporate citizen to date, we can say with conviction that our support to Botswana sport is constant and undisputed,” she said.

The winner of the one-day spectacular will walk away with P250, 000, runner up receives P150, 000 and the semi-finalists gets P90, 000. Makhwade-Seboni said they have set aside over P1.1 million, which is meant to provide for travel and accommodation costs for the four clubs and other requirements that would enable the Botswana Football League (BFL) to run the tournament professionally.

She said the participating clubs have selected charity organisations that they would like to support. Makhwade-Seboni said the proceeds from the SMS voting line selected by each of the participating clubs goes towards charity. Voting begins today until February 28 with each SMS costing P1.50. The draw is set for March 4, where the top four clubs would be announced. The tournament is scheduled for Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown on April 2.
