He said the Friday incident involved a 38-year-old woman who had visited Francistown to watch a football match between Rollers and Gaborone United. The woman who is from Masunga was allegedly raped by a 28-year-old man of Natale village.

"Narrating her story the victim conceded to have had spent the whole night with the suspect entertaining herself drinking alcohol in Francistown, but was shocked to wake up in Natale next to the suspect and opened a rape case. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, but the suspect has since been arrested, charged with an offence of rape and he will soon appear before Francistown Magistrates Court," he said.

In another rape incident that occurred on Christmas night, the 28-year-old woman of Makobo village was attacked and raped by two unknown men when walking alone from a bar. Kgathang said the duo allegedly dragged her to the river and raped her at knife point.

"Investigations are ongoing to locate and arrest the duo who are still on the loose. I am pleading with women to avoid walking alone at night as they are vulnerable as compared to their male counterparts, and they should also be cautious about their environmental at all times," he said.

Kgathang said date rape cases remain a major concern. He said men who most of the times are perpetrators should respect women and know that 'no means no'.
