He said the duo allegedly got into a misunderstanding on Thursday night at Molinaro Bar in Mogoditshane following an argument over quart bottles.

“Our preliminary investigations have established that the duo, the 41-year-old deceased and the 21-year-old suspect got into a misunderstanding after one of them allegedly took quart bottles belonging to the other. This is what allegedly caused a misunderstanding that led to the fight,” Letsebe said.

He said whilst fighting the suspect allegedly took out a knife and stabbed the deceased to death. Letsebe stated after receiving the report they rushed to the crime scene where they found the deceased in a pool of blood.

“He (deceased) was rushed to a local clinic where on arrival he was certified dead by doctors. The suspect is currently in police custody and has been charged with murder. He is likely to appear before the Broadhurst Magistrate’s Court today (Monday),” he said.

The senior police officer raised a concern at the continuous knife stabbing incidents in his policing area blaming the situation to be worsened by excessive alcohol intake.

He further revealed to be tormented by recording murder cases in which people die from knife stabbing (wounds).

Letsebe said when doing regular stop and search patrols, they always find young men in possession of knives and sachets of marijuana. He stated that it shows that the perpetrators usually stab others whilst high on some kind of drugs.
