This comes after some local musicians slammed promoters for always headlining their shows with international acts, something that did not sit well with them as they believe such denies them a chance to grow.

Furthermore, local artists have given gratitude to the Kwambala festival promoter for giving home-grown artists the platform to shine alone without being outshone by international artist.

The fourth annual Kwambala festival was held at Francistown Old stadium and attracted a handful revellers, something that might have been caused by rainy conditions earlier during the show.

After a splendid performance showcased by different musicians, Showtime got a chance to catch up with the famous Charma Gal who was happy with the overall response from the attendants.

She thanked the organiser of the show indicating that the concept of keeping the line 100% is unique and generally supports local talents.

According to the multi-award winning artist, the show does not only bring people together for entertainment purposes but plays major role in promoting local artists.

“During the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic, shows like this one assists in economically empowering indigenous musicians as they were the most affected,” she said. The gifted singer further said that apart from some sound technical challenges everything was on point.

The Sekuta hit maker did not comment on the issue of attendance indicating that the organiser can address the situation better.

Meanwhile, Slizer who was also part of the line up, gave thumbs up to the organiser for keeping the line-up 100% local. She said such initiative gives local artist a change to showcase their talents without having to compete with international acts. The controversial singer encouraged other local promoters to support local artist by hosting shows with 100% local line up. Culture Spears’ Kabelo Mogwe shared the same sentiments with Charma Gal and Slizer on issues of promoting local artist.

On a different note, the Malebeswa singer was disappointed about the sound issue and suggested that live bands should conduct sound check before the show.

He said that doing so in the middle of the show is unprofessional and disrespectful to the attendants. During the show the revellers were mesmerised by both upcoming and renowned artists. The show kick-started with the local DJs on the ones and two who played both local and international music to keep the crowd on their toes.

Cultural groups such as Culture Spears and Dinkwenkgoga had the crowd dancing and singing along with their songs such as Lerato and Seshashudi which set the mood for the crowd. The sensational legendary Kwasa Kwasa artists such at Alfred Mos, Jeff Matheatau, and Franco gave their all by putting up a spirited show and left the crowd begging for more.

Charma Gal and Slizer gave the crowd a show to remember with their dance moves when performing their new song Mmajay and December go jewa kuku.
