The Reds were eager to maintain their perfect start to the new season while Sechaba were chasing their second win of the league campaign. GU looked comfortable on the ball from the first whistle with an exercise of patience ahead of the final third. It nearly took the team just eight minutes to find the opener but Mpho Kgaswane shot wide after a string of good passes. The Reds came close again in the 14th minute but Mabitso Rapowa showed good reflexes to deny Obonwe Maome from the edge of the box.

Three minutes later, Rapowa denied Kekaetswe Moloi's attempted tap in from close range.

The goalkeeper was however hapless on the 20th minute as he was beaten to the bottom corner by Maome. After taking the lead, GU were the better side on the evening as Notwane went into the halftime break without a shot on target. In the second half, Toronto chased the game looking for an equaliser while GU looked to increase the lead.

Thatayaone Kgamanyane was brought down inside the penalty area on the 57th minute and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. The attacker stepped up and beat the goalkeeper to the bottom corner for his sixth league goal of this campaign. Five minutes later, Aobakwe Tshobo tested Goitseone Phoko for the first time and the save was effortless. Substitute, Shaun Theron followed with a long range attempt and it was also easily saved. Seven minutes to time, substitute Joel Mogorosi's attempt from a tight angle was easily saved by Rapowa.

Whilst on the other end Tshobo could only shoot straight into Phoko's hands from outside the box, it was GU's fifth league win in as many games. The team remains perfect as it is yet to concede this campaign. "In today's game we were looking at the attitude because when you play an opponent in the second half of the log standings, you can have players undermining the team.

We emphasised on the attitude today and I must say I was quite impressed with what we got today," GU's Pontsho Moloi said after the game. Notwane's Oupa Kowa bemoaned poor form of his squad. "We tried to play more up field today but we were falling back and played the ball back. One thing that is worrying is that a lot of my players are not in good form," he said.
