Nico United have registered their second straight victory PIC: NICO UNITED

They kicked off their season with resounding 4-1 win over TAFIC a fortnight ago before they beat Miscellaneous 2-1 away in Serowe this past Saturday. Nico failed to gain promotion last season when they finished second on the log to Sua Flamingoes. At the time, the two sides were tied on points with Flamingoes sitting at the top because of a superior goal difference. However, the league was stopped with some matches remaining because of the outbreak of COVID-19. Sua Flamingoes were then declared champions and Nico United had to go through a promotional play-off against Mogoditshane Fighters. They failed to go past Fighters in the play-off.

This season, they kicked off their campaign against two sides that had just relegated from the Premier League. The successful results against the two sides have seen Nico shoot to the top of the log standings with six points and a healthy goal difference of plus four. Another former Premier League side, Sankoyo Bush Bucks maintained their bad start to the season when they lost 1-0 to Maun Terrors. Sankoyo started their campaign against rookies, Chadibe North FC a fortnight ago where they lost by a solitary goal. Motlakase Power Dynamos also suffered a home defeat to Peace Makers in a five-goal thriller on Saturday while Calendar stars registered a 3-1 home win against Serowe based Green Lovers. TAFIC, who kicked off their season with a loss, were scheduled to face Chadibe North FC yesterday.

Meanwhile, Tlokweng United are also sending early warning signs in the Debswana First Division South League following their second straight victory this past weekend. Following a 1-0 victory over Holy Ghost a fortnight ago, Tlokweng United picked up the pace this past weekend and smashed four goals past hapless Motaung Young Fighters to go top of the log standings. Black Forest registered their second successive draw on Saturday against Matebejana. A frtnight ago, Magoleng played to another draw against Mochudi Centre Chiefs who were facing Matebele in the Kgatleng derby yesterday.
