As part of the investigations the spy unit on Wednesday this week detained Khama’s head of private security.

The latest casualty, Mike Maake, was apparently detained and interrogated for few hours before being released to his family.

News reaching Mmegi indicate that Maake was hunted down the whole day, detained and interrogated and later released around 2000hrs.

Accordingly, Khama said following the arrest of his head of security, the DIS reportedly instructed the unit’s security not to allow anyone into the house.

“The DIS arrested the head of my security.

Also they have instructed my DIS security not to allow anyone into my house. This is clearly illegal as that is my private dwelling and I can allow anyone of my choice to enter,” the former president said.

Prior to Khama’s head of security arrest, it was reported that the DIS conducted a raid at Shakawe and when they found nothing they proceeded with the arrest.

Khama revealed that he believes the intention of the DIS barring his house staff and gardeners from entering the property could be that they want to go in there undetected and plant bugs and chemicals in the house.

“They are also planning to arrest all other private security staff as they did when they detained their own who they think are loyal and confiscated their phones whilst threatening them to implicate me,” said Khama, who is still in South Africa.

Although at the time of going to press it was still not clear why the head of security was arrested as his mobile phone was switched off, it is alleged that the DIS wonders how Khama has maintained his lifestyle and able to pay all his staff.
