The deceased's body was found in a badly decomposed state. The police said the deceased was discovered by his family members after trying to contact him through his mobile phone to no avail for weeks.

Confirming to be investigating the case, the district Crime Investigation Department (CID) officer, detective superintendent Obert Stone said they have ruled out foul play in this matter after the doctor who was engaged to carry out pathology tests confirmed the deceased was killed by carbon monoxide. “His family members said they parted ways with the deceased on November 2, 2021 after he was engaged to go and construct kraals at Masiadime lands. They said weeks later they could not reach him through his mobile phone,” he said. Stone said concerned by his whereabouts, weeks later his family members tried to follow him at his yard in Bobonong still to no avail and got worried.

The senior officer said that is when they (his family) followed him to the lands where they were welcome by a strange smell. He stated that the family started looking around and they found him dead and decomposed inside a Jojo water tank and reported the matter to the police. "On arrival at the scene, police discovered a badly decomposed body inside the tank with coal inside. We suspect that it was a cold night and the deceased decided to sleep inside the water tank because he did not have blankets.

He was also putting on two trousers and jackets,” he said. Stone said the doctor confirmed that he was killed by carbon monoxide because he had closed himself inside the tank with coal burning inside.
