The soldier, Tlamelo Kethabanetswe, 29, allegedly murdered Kgosietsile Zulu Dube on December 6, 2020, at Borolong village.

Ketlhabanetswe’s lawyer Chakalisa Gunda told Magistrate Thabang Chokwe on Wednesday that his client was not present in court because he was at an appointment with Dr Paul Sidandi, a psychiatrist based at Jubilee Hospital, on the same day.

“The accused is not in court today because he is going to consult Dr Sidandi. We pray that he should be excused from attending court today on those grounds,” Gunda said.

Earlier, prosecutor Tsagae Marape told the court that investigations in the matter are almost complete.
