The event was themed “Hope for Drug free Botswana." In an interview, Hope Pageants Botswana director, Tlhatlogo Sera Madiba said the main aim of the walk was to raise funds and also create awareness on alcohol and drug abuse. "There has been an increase in the drug culture in Botswana so we hope by engaging in this walk we managed to send out a strong message to people who managed to interact with us and also those that joined us in the walk.

We believe by creating an awareness walk we will act as deterrent to the abuse of alcohol and drugs, and also help those that are caught in the trap of alcohol and drug abuse," she pointed out.

Madiba added that Hope Pageants contestants participated to embed the knowledge of alcohol and drug abuse in their minds. She added that joining them were ordinary citizens who saw the need to walk with them and make a bigger impact. The walk started at Game City going towards station CBD robots intersection of New Lobatse road and Molepolole road, making their U-turn there going back to Game City. The event was sponsored by Earnest Printing and Branding who donated the marching banner, Turnstar with the Game City venue, Artron Enterprises Pty Ltd with water.

Hope Pageants Botswana and Drug Free Is The New Cool Organisation intend on creating this event annually because they have realised alcohol and drug abuse is a very pressing matter that needs to be addressed.
