The book titled, ‘The Solo Runner: The Untold Story Of Isaac Makwala’ was authored by former athlete and academic, Tshepang Tshube. It captures Makwala’s journey on the world stage.

However, just a few days before the launch, the 35-year-old’s father passed on, forcing the indefinite postponement of the launch and activities associated with the event. “It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr Wonderful Makwala Moseki, Isaac Makwala’s father. He passed away on November 17, 2021.

The book launch and related activities have been postponed until further notice. We request that the public give the Makwala family privacy during their time of bereavement,” part of the statement from the organisers reads. Meanwhile, the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Tumiso Rakgare will hand over houses to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics’ 4x400m bronze medal-winning team on Monday morning.

The sextet of Makwala, Baboloki Thebe, Leungo Scotch, Zibane Ngozi, Bayapo Ndori and Anthony Pesela were promised two-bedroomed houses for their heroics from the Olympic games. The team brought home the country’s only medal from the Tokyo-held games. The handover will be at Tsholofelo East Flats.
