The digital transformation strategy, known as SmartBots, is an action plan that aims to deliver a smart sustainable society for Botswana by digitalising the public sector for more efficient service delivery.

According to BDIH, this is all being done with the primary aim of supporting the national innovation ecosystem to enhance Botswana’s global competitiveness.

The role of the BDIH in this regard is to facilitate the co-creation of innovative and citizen-driven public services that can be deployed and championed in government, co-developed by young innovators, SMEs and within established frameworks. These solutions can then be sold through newly established companies incubated at the BDIH, first throughout Africa and then the world.

“The renewed focus shall be placed on the execution of priorities to deliver on our bold vision of being Africa’s innovation leader, fostering high-tech businesses and commercialising ideas for sustainable economic growth,” the BDIH said in a statement.

The rebranding roll-out campaign, which has already commenced with the BDIH name change, will see the new BDIH identity, logo and other marketing collateral replace that of BIH.

“We strive to ensure that the look and feel resonates well with the new priorities. This rename and rebranding represents a significant step in our organisation’s evolution. “We are redefining who we are, driving change and shaping the present and future of innovation in national development,”

BIH was established in 2010 to promote innovation and technology entrepreneurship by supporting the commercialisation of solutions developed by BIH registered entities.
