Ndunga leaves Orapa after Makgantai fight

Ndunga was reported to have been involved in a fistfight with housemate, Makgantai last month. The pair have been missing from the matchday squad since United's CAF Confederation Cup second leg tie against Coton Spot played mid-October.
Speaking to Mmegi Sport, United's public relations officer, Amelton Gaefhele confirmed Ndunga's departure but refused to tie it to the fight with Makgantai.
"The contractual issues are an agreement between the employer and employee and are confidential. Why Rre Ndunga opted for separation remains his choice and privacy as such shall be dealt with in that way," Gaefhele said. Ndunga is said to have returned home to Uganda while Makgantai remains on 'compassionate leave' since October. According to sources, the incident was reported to the police and Makgantai is said to be facing possible assault charges. Gaefhele has, however, said despite the pair being contractually tied to the club at the time, United has not taken action against the players as the incident happened 'after hours'. "We operate within and in accordance with the provisions of Botswana laws. Issues of violence, especially occurring outside the confines and scope of any organisation are dealt with by law enforcement agencies. The BPS (Botswana Police Service) will give more clarity on the matter."
"Obviously, appropriate actions are taken for any acts that are contrary to contractual obligations as well as those that have the potential to tarnish the organisation's image as well as bring football into disrepute. It still has to be noted that this is an issue involving two individuals and has to be approached and addressed as such. It is the same case where you and your colleague may have a misunderstanding leading to one physically advising the other outside work, would you hold your employer answerable, accountable and responsible for your actions and associated consequences?" Gaefhele asked. Ndunga signed for the Ostriches before the 2019-2020 season on a two-year deal. He became a key squad member and played a starring role in the team winning the 2019-2020 Mascom Top 8 trophy. The midfielder has previously played for Molepolole City Stars. The local shores seem far too unkind for the 25-year-old as during his time at City Stars he found himself homeless, as the club did not pay his wages.
