Enaex Enters Mining With A Blast

Enaex Africa, a joint venture with Sasol ("an integrated energy and chemical company" with roots in Sasolburg, South Africa) and Enaex (a Chile-based global group with a century-old track record), also has subsidiaries in Namibia, Lesotho and Zambia. The Botswana subsidiary is in collaboration with Bull-Shot, a local company that produces and distributes a wide variety of high explosives and value-added solutions.
The company provides all the products required to execute the entire blasting process with several types of bulk emulsions, cartridge emulsions, boosters and conventional and electronic detonators, among others.
These products include raw materials, bulk explosives, packaged explosives and initiation systems, which are used in blasting for open-cast and underground mining operations, quarries and civil construction. Enaex Africa chief executive officer (CEO), Francisco Baudrand told Business Monitor they decided to enter into a joint venture with a local company as they believe in empowering citizens in communities that they operate in. “We are committed to investing in Botswana and prepared to participate in the economy. We already are working on projects in Mowana Mine and Karowe Mine where we have already employed about 50 people.
We took some of them to South Africa for training before they started operations in Botswana,” he said. Further, Enaex also has plans to engage more local companies in the value chain as the CEO said they have already engaged others in supplies. He said the company has embraced technology as they are the first explosives business that is doing teleoperations, which is effective and efficient. “We aim to be the preferred company in providing premier blasting solutions.
We have also created special explosives, bulk emulsions and heavy anfo that has different characteristics like products that are suitable in reactive grounds, products with energy and also we are providing very low energy products,” he said.
