The Ostriches registered a 2-0 win over Extension Gunners to secure their top spot in the BPL log standings. They kicked off their campaign with a resounding 4-1 victory against Notwane a fortnight ago and proved yet again against Gunners that they will be a force to reckon with. The victory against Gunners was their second successive away victory since the season started.

Attacking midfielder, Thero Setsile once again registered his name amongst the goalscorers on Saturday with the other goal coming from Thabiso Boti. It was Gunners' second successive loss after conceding two goals against Rollers in their first match. The league title has become the only domestic competition that has eluded the Ostriches since they arrived on the Premier League scene years ago. They have already won the Mascom Top 8 twice and are currently the defending Orange FA Cup champions. Head coach, Mogomotsi ‘Teenage’ Mpote has already won several league titles as an assistant coach at Township Rollers.

He then went on to win it as the head coach after the departure of Mark Harrison. The Ostriches are now sitting at the top with six points and a healthy goal difference of plus five goals. Sitting right below is Gaborone United (GU) who traveled to Serowe on Saturday and scored four goals against Mahalapye Railways Highlanders. The Reds had just come out of a tight 1-0 win a fortnight ago against new comers, Sua Flamingoes. The goals against Highlanders came from Lebogang Ditsele, Thatayaone Kgamanyane, Tshepo Malgas and Takunda Sadiki. Like Orapa United, The Reds have been struggling to win the league title for quite sometime.

The last time they won the league title was in 2009 when Wellington Maposa’s strike against Mochudi Centre Chiefs decided the title in the last match of the season. Rollers are also showing their early intentions after winning their second match on Saturday against Jwaneng Galaxy. They are level on points with Orapa United and GU. BDF XI are currently on four points following their 2-2 draw against Security Systems on Friday night. Matebele started their campaign with a 2-0 win over Prisons XI.

Systems on the other hand are yet to win a match after playing to a 0-0 draw with Police XI in the first match. Police are also on four points following their 2-0 victory over Notwane on Saturday. Notwane, just like Gunners are yet to hit the right gear early on in the season. New comers, Masitaoka registered their first victory in the elite league against Morupule Wanderers in Serowe on Saturday. The Molepolole-based side kick-started their campaign against Mogoditshane Fighters and went down 1-0.
