The appointment comes after Retshabile had just completed her first assignment as competition manager for the Pent Series that Namibia hosted last week. Her role is to facilitate and manage the technical benches during the competition that starts on November 9-16. Retshabile has a strong background when it comes to netball championships which started back in 2016. “I was the competition manager for the Netball World Youth Cup (NWYC) qualifiers in 2016. I was then accredited World Netball Technical Delegate and Technical Officials Tutor during NWYC 2017.

I also officiated at the following events, the 2019 Africa Netball Cup - Cape Town as a technical delegate (TD), 2018 Africa Netball Cup and Africa World Cup Qualifiers - Lusaka (TD),” she said. A technical delegate is the technical representative of World Netball who ensures that all netball rules, regulations and requirements are complied with. The competition manager is responsible for managing and conducting the netball competition. Retshabile officiated at the 2018 FISU Netball Games in Kampala as a TD.

She said being a competition manager at the Pent Series has given her experience. Meeting different people with different cultures also helped her to improve her abilities as in an individual. Meanwhile, Botswana Netball Association (BONA) has sent the senior women’s national team to compete at the Africa Netball Championships in Namibia.
