This instruction comes after the directorate had recently informed the former president, who is also a retired army general, that they will come to his residence to collect the said weapons.

Khama has raised fears that the instruction to report at the DIS Sebele office is but a ploy, “to arrest me out of the public eye".

At the time of publishing this story, Khama was still discussing with his lawyers what his next move will be. On the other hand, the DIS director-general Peter Magosi is reportedly insisting that Khama hands his weapons in at the DIS Sebele office.

Edward Robert, the DIS public relations director, could not shed light on the latest developments this morning, only stating: “These issues border on operational matters and we are not going to jeopardise investigations if any are ongoing".

He preferred to remain mum on the details of the matter, albeit not suggesting that the Khama arrest was imminent or not.

Mmegi can, however, indicate that the Khama arrest today has been top of the DIS agenda having been trailing his ally and former DIS director-general Isaac Kgosi, on a similar hunt for weapons, which the intelligence agency is yet to recover.

Kgosi was recently questioned after his brief detention at the Special Support Group cells and appearances before the Magistrate's and the High courts with the State vying for his 14-day detention whilst the pursuit for the alleged weapons continues.
