The Ostriches took the lead just 10 minutes into the game as Thabiso Boti netted from close range to give the team the lead against his former side. The visitors controlled the proceedings but were wasteful upfront. Boti had a chance to bag a brace but the defence quickly cleared Thero Setsile’s shot from outside the box. Against the run of play, Aobakwe Tshobo was let down by his control inside the box after he was set up by Charles Mujokeri at the half-hour mark. With five minutes to the break, Mbatshi Elias saw his acrobatic effort sail over the bar.

The visitors went into the break leading by a goal. Just 10 minutes in the second half, Tshobo met Thero Ntau’s cross but could not direct it towards goalposts. The Ostriches went on to double the lead with Setsile beating off his marker and slotted to the near post on the 57th minutes. Toronto pulled one back from the spot after Tshobo was brought down inside the box.

Half-time substitute, Raymond Israel beat the goalkeeper to the top corner from the spot on 73rd minutes. The home side’s celebrations were cut short just after few minutes as Elias rounded the goalkeeper and laid the ball for Onkemetse Powe who tapped into the empty net. Youngster, Brian Lekwape rounded off the big win with a goal on his debut. “We are happy to score goals. In the last two games we have struggled to score. My only concern is the way we concede. It is a disease we need to cure quickly. Because even when we are not under pressure we concede stupid goals. I am happy, we have been working on the attack,” United’s coach Mogomotsi ‘Teenage’ Mpote said after the game.

His counterpart, Notwane’s Oupa Kowa felt his players failed to execute the basics of football on the afternoon. “If you don’t do the basics of football you are in danger and we did not do the basics today. We failed to put pressure on them. We are at the beginning of the very long marathon, we have just gone 100 meters, and we need to come back and catch up with the leading guys,” he said. In other matches played on Sunday, Jwaneng Galaxy thrashed Gilport Lions 4-2 in Jwaneng. BDF XI registered a 2-0 win over Prisons XI to wrap up a high scoring Sunday action.
