However, the Botswana Football Association (BFA) responded and advised that they follow certain procedures so that their matter can be formally placed before a tribunal. According to the BFA chief executive officer (CEO), Goabaone Taylor, City Stars have since filed the matter with the tribunal and have been requested to submit additional documents.

The tribunal has formally received the documents and is waiting on Molepolole City to file some annexures which they made reference to in their formal request for arbitration. Upon receiving those documents the chairperson will guide as to how the matter will proceed,” Taylor said. When asked about the implications if City Stars’ appeal becomes successful, Taylor said the tribunal will guide on the next move. “We cannot discuss the possible outcome as this may prejudice the parties involved.

For now we should let the tribunal make a decision and it is the tribunal that will guide on what should happen,” she said.

City Stars are challenging the decision by the BFA to stop the season prematurely, which resulted in them alongside, Miscellaneous and TAFIC, being relegated. Stars are arguing that their relegation was unjust. During the same season, City Stars were among some of the clubs that were docked points after failing to comply with some of the club licensing requirements. They are of the view that the association is applying double standards after recently pardoning some clubs that had also failed to comply.
